We’ve been working on a number of Creative Director type searches of late; there’s been an interesting trend.
For a long time, employers have been asking for portfolios of a candidate’s work. Sites like Behance and Coroflo attempt to facilitate the creation and hosting of portfolios. Suddenly, these sites seem so dated, off the mark. Why?
Because companies like our client, Visere have redefined the look at feel of applications, of presentations, of portfolios. Apple’s influence, creating clean, simple interfaces, are now the norm, the expectation of top tier candidates.
The compelling candidates, the folks who get interviews and land jobs, are just as often presenting via a PDF as they are a website. What they have in common is their work, pixel perfect, looks like a beautiful ‘brochure’ not some geeky, tiled view of screen shots.
Never underestimate the value of an awesome portfolio.
